This was most probably a temporary solution anyway, as it was a long desired feature. Eventually it may end up as a window on top of AdvMap (same as Town & Battle, which keep the 800x600 resolution), but for now I'm more than happy to have at least the functionality. :)

I would like to fix this to make more seamless transition from main menu to game and make implementation of loading screen or campaign prologue easier.

What I'd like to do is to remove separate resolution for main menu and in-game. As result main menu must have same size as adventure map.

I'll probably will follow hd mod here: main menu displayed in center, with empty areas filled with black or with some background texture (quick result from
gimp: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22372764/vcmi/vcmi-menu-draft.png [^] )
It should be possible to allow hi-res menu along the way but can't promise anything right now.

Any objections or better propositions?

What you proposed here may be ok as a quick fix. But what about this?

What about question I asked you yesterday via PM? :P

Sorry. Haven't logged on forums today. Will check.
And why I haven't received any e-mail notifications?..

Of course I remember this. However this needs re-creating backgrounds and all buttons for every resolution. Quite trivial task but it will notably increase size of our data package. And it still won't solve loading screen\prologue problems.
So I would like to allow mismatching between game resolution and main menu.

Main menu loading may look like this:
1) Load background
2) Check size of background image
3) If image smaller than screen - add border and fill empty areas.
After this implementing hi-res main menu will be trivial.

Resolved I think: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22372764/vcmi/vcmi-hires-menu.png [^]
Buttons need a bit more of work but I don't want to spend too much time on this right now.

Enabling it by default won't work - WoG background also has video and buttons which are not scalable.

I am not sure about including these images in data package (+3.4 Mb) but in any case it works. I'll upload packages on forum after next (dev) release.

Scaling algorithm may be too simple but it will work for now.
