Tested on r2621. I get such error 2-3 times, when start new game.

(0002348) Tow (developer) 2012-04-10 02:09	I tried several times but I don't have any luck reproducing the issue. Any chance you could try getting the stack trace when the crash occurs? That'd be helpful. Judging by the failed assertion dialog, you're using a VS debug build, so it should be right there. When the dialog appears, run Visual Studio, attach it to the VCMI process, and then in the dialog click Retry aka Повтор. Visual should activate and point the failed assertion. Then select call stack window (if it's not present, bring it up debug->windows->call stack), ctrl+a, ctrl+c and paste it here.
