Description0.72d#14 - I can retreat my only hero from battle, even though I have no castle. Game continues, but freezes on pass turn command.

I guess this can be fixed only after losing conditions are implemented. Though it may be interesting for future mods to allow the situation of no town / no hero - just pass turn to see enemy moves, until a custom event will give the player (again) a town or a hero. Or else - and that's again just a modding idea - the possibility to add your flag to an Adventure Map Tavern, so that you could access it by clicking on the object (not only for the no hero / no town situation, but also for the possibility of recruiting without the need of using another hero to visit the map object).

Is this a bug at all?
IIRC it was possible to escape with last hero from battlefield but hen you lose the game. So it would be rather a feature request for lose condition than possibility of retreatment bug.

Agreed. I'm changing the severity to "feature", priority to "low" and category to "Mechanics - Other", as the retreat from battle works the same in H3 also in the case of last hero with no town. It indeed depends only on the implementation of the lose condition (IIRC, Warmonger mentioned you're working on that Tow, so once implemented, we can change the assignment and mark this as "resolved").

It may have been interesting to leave in the code the possibility to retreat your last hero w/o a town for the reasons I mentioned above, but perhaps that's a mod nobody would be interested of coding anyway, so we shouldn't waste time with that.

AFAIK was implemented (losing condition) by 0.8 release.
