0000829: New game version does not reset sound settings
Original report: In 0.86 Main Menu had the background music, 0.86c does not have it anymore.

EDIT: I think I figured this one out. Overwriting with newer game files does not reset the sound settings, so if we overwrite a version when sound was turned off, when we launch the new one it remains off.

So it's more of a debatable feature, rather than bug. If one changes their default resolution for example, a new version restores the standard one. Should we be consistent on this for all game settings or not?

(Summary updated to correctly describe issue and severity changed to Feature)

Still present in 0.86d?
Works fine for me so this is either platform-specific or missing library.

Are you on Windows or Linux?

And just in case: any idea what file would I be missing? I'm pretty sure I overwrote 0.86d over an 0.86 version, but I could be wrong...

Linux.

Really don't know. However there was no changes in music handler since 0.86 and according from your logs from 0000838 there is no errors in our music player.

See edited report: it seems to the game kept the sound settings of a previous install. If it's an easy change, I'd rather have new versions overwrite the sound to default values, to be consistent with other game setting resets and avoid bug reports like this one in the future.

Ah. There was better proposition on forums (http://forum.vcmi.eu/viewtopic.php?t=432 [^]) which can remove any possibility of such issues. Shouldn't be difficult to implement for next release.

Let me know if I have to edit / include something specific in 0.87 relese.

By next release I meant 0.87+1 - don't want to break something just before release.

I wanted not to release incorrect config files, but I think everything is ok now.

Should not happen anymore. User settings won't be overwritten by new versions.
