I am not familiar with that area of the code so just some notes:
- most possibly this is Linux-only issue
- same bug is present in taverns as well
- rotating sword in main menu makes only one rotation and stops after this
Video in spell book and intro videos looks fine. |

I uploaded the screenshot. |

Not reproducible for me under Windows, so probably Linux-only indeed. I remember some time ago a discussion about a similar (or really same) bug, and it was related to the fact that the .dll's didn't work as under Windows. |

In the native linux game (loki) animation works fine. |

It looks that making videos from Windows version work is quite problematic - library used to play them don't support so old format. Try to copy video files from LOKI version to VCMI dir as suggested in readme:
cp -a /PATH_TO_CDROM/data/video /VCMI_INSTALL_PATH/vcmi/Data
After this you should see all videos. |

Moving to acknowledged, not fixable
On non-Win platforms ffmpeg is used to play all in-game video.
So unless ffmpeg will add support for old version of bink used in H3, the only way to make them work is to use video files from LOKI version (they have another format, supported by ffmpeg). |

Good news regarding videos:
It looks that ffmpeg 0.8 DOES HAVE SUPPORTS for H3 bink's!
Debian users will have to wait for release of Wheezy (or install package from it)
Ubuntu users - already available in "precise" (12.04) |
