I think this is a neat new feature to make it more easy to comprehend all those towns in our huge empires. =)

@Steven: Is this actually a new feature request? Because at least for me, in 0.74, they don't get reordered (at game start or after load).

@Steven: can you please confirm if this was a bug report or enhancement suggestion?

If it was a bug, it's probably gone. At least I haven't notice the behavior in over a year since this was created (they do get reordered, but only after load, and not by type - as I noticed in my tests for 0000222). Please advise if there is a way to reproduce it, otherwise I guess we can close this report.

If it was an enhancement suggestion, then we can leave it open, but perhaps discuss what's the best way to have them re-ordered. Type could be a criterion, but maybe the WoG way of giving the player total freedom in ordering towns is even better, isn't it?
